Have you ever wanted to speak to someone long departed? Many people today are visiting mediums to connect with loved ones who have died. But some people are a little nervous or simply curious about what a visit with a medium is like. The idea of connecting with “another world” seems like nothing they’ve ever heard before!
There is nothing to fear or be nervous about when it comes to visiting with a medium. Many mediums are typical people just like you and me who wear jeans and like to walk their dog or other everyday activities. Other than connecting with the dead – there is nothing “otherworldly” about them.
When making an appointment to see a medium it is a very common experience to feel a bit emotional. And why shouldn’t you? You are about to talk to your dead sister, mother or friend. This – for anyone – is a very tender and emotional experience. Often you’ll start to think about the last time you spoke to the person that has died or some of the happy times that you shared with them. Maybe there is something important that you wanted to tell them before they died. These thoughts will start to bubble up for you.
We suggest you sit quietly in meditation before your appointment for guidance on what questions or topics to talk about with a medium. You want to use this time to your best advantage. Sometimes you can feel as if you have “so many” things you’d love to cover – and that is perfectly natural! Try to pick out one or two topics to stick to and then think of the others if you have the additional time. Focusing and organizing your time will be most helpful in letting you get the most out of your session with the medium.
Make your session with the medium at a time when you won’t be disturbed. This may sound quite practical, but some people are so eager to speak to a medium that they’ll forget they are cooking dinner or that they have to go out for an appointment. Choose a time when you have some free time and also some private time when you can focus on your mediumship reading.
Write down or record the mediumship reading as you experience it. Sometimes when you connect with the medium you can become so emotional as you realize that you are finally talking with your mother, that it can be hard to focus and concentrate on the exact words. Writing down what the medium is saying or recording the reading can help you review the reading later. This way you can fully enjoy the experience and get the most from it.
Internationally known and respected medium John Edward is often known for saying, “a mediumship reading is not a replacement for healing and grief counseling.” We agree with this statement fully. While a mediumship reading can be a very valuable experience – grief counseling is often necessary for anyone who has suffered a loss. If you are having trouble functioning because of the loss of a loved one – don’t first seek the mediumship reading – seek grief counseling. This can support you as you deal with the loss of a loved one. Then at a later time you can consider a mediumship reading.
